Integrate cycling into more of your life. The CityView is equipped with the Shimano Alfine rear hub to keep your commute and your errands low maintenance and hassle-free. Simple and clean belt adjustment with the Co-Motion self-locking eccentric and Alfine specific drop-outs made in-house. Tough, over-sized and custom Reynolds 725 Steel tubing with a hand-built unicrown fork. Shimano’s Alfine 11-speed internally-geared hub means sleek, derailleur-free riding with a superb gearing range. Dual disc brakes for excellent safety and control. Civilized and upright body positioning helps you arrive relaxed and fully charged.
For this upcoming NAHBS show we decided to build a special edition of the CityView model, to include the new electronic Shimano Di2 Alfine drive-train. Complete with flat-bar thumb shifter, gear and battery indicator, and short battery mount under the down-tube. Of course, we couldn’t resist drilling the frame for internal wire routing and cleaner appearance. How could we improve on this ultimate commuting and city machine? Integrate the new Gates CenterTrack Carbon Drive for a clean, reliable and quiet ride. To achieve this, we had to CNC machine a custom CenterTrack cog to work within the tight tolerances between the electric Alfine motor and hub itself. The result is the smoothest, low maintenance and trouble-free city bike!
We hand-build all of our wheels at Co-Motion and this CityView is no exception. We chose the Velocity Dyad rims with a Shimano Dynamo front hub to power up an E3 Supernova headlight and your favorite GPS or smart phone on the go. Final details include House of Kolor (HOK) pearlescent paint with logos applied in a reverse masking process, all performed in-house. Chris King headset, Selle Anatomica saddle, Thomson seat post, Avid BB7 disc brakes, and FSA cockpit. Designed to accept your favorite fenders and racks, the CityView may just change your life.
This frame is a fillet brazed road frame with oversized tubing. The rider was coming off of a carbon frame and he really enjoyed the stiffness of the frame, but not the ride quality. After some talking and riding together we decided that he wanted a frame that looked good and would ride very well. We wanted the weight to be competitive but not make it a priority. I really enjoyed how this bike turned out and how stiff it is. Pair it with the NEW SRAM red groupset, King Headset, Bottom Bracket and Hubs and you have a great bike. It will be great for exploring Southern California.
