Legacy Frameworks Model 2 Step-through (Entry for: Best city bike):
Legacy Frameworks, Model 2 - City/Commuter BIke
Legacy Bikes are made to be the ideal bike for general commuting and transportation around the city. Made with the city of Chicago in mind, the first example of the model 2 frame combines a step through frame style with a comfortable upright geometry to allow for riding no matter how you are dressed and give a heads up view of the traffic around you. The simplicity of the design and details are appreciated by the owner and decreeing cyclist, but hopefully not the casual bike thief.
The option of the Gate Carbon Drive eliminated the worry of getting grease on you work clothes from a chain and re-enforces a quality hands off impression of the bike with it's nearly silent operation. The addition of the eccentric bottom bracket allows for the rear dropouts to be vertical, eliminating the chance of the wheel slipping out of alignment and easing the inevitable inner tube repair. This particular bike includes a simple single speed design with worry free and clean drum brakes on front and back. A front dynamo hub and light combination and the overall retro-reflective powder coat ramp up the visibility of this bike in the busy urban night.
Overall the construction of this bike was completed with an eye on small scale production. Simple, but lightweight tubes and joining methods were combined with esthetically pleasing lines, curves and angles to create a simple, functional and cost effective bike. This particular bike as is will retail for approximately $1,500 - $1,600 built up and ready to ride.
Tubing: True Temper Verus and Straight Gauge Chromolly
Construction: TIG welding, Brass and silver Brazing
Powder Coat: Halo Retro Reflective
