Black Sheep Bikes- Riders big and small, no wheel size too phat or tall. Making adventures come true everywhere.

Award Winner:
Jack’s Tandem (Award for: Best tandem bike):
Black Sheep has roots in tandem building. Many of the early years saw contract fabrication and welding for other companies around Colorado including tandems in Denver. Over time Black Sheep has become known for our single rider bikes. We love riding our own bikes but we love it most while with our friends. Tandems have the added benefit of getting your buddy right there with you sharing the experience. Once we had an opportunity to bring one of our Tandems to NAHBS in Denver we jumped at it.
Jack and his wife like to do gravel and fire road cycling. A fully rigid Titanium bike made sense for them. They benefit from light weight tubing while enjoying the nice compliant ride of Titanium. We have also designed the bike to take large sized 29er tires. The 29+ platform combines the larger rolling diameter of 700c wheels with a wide 3" tire for more pneumatic suspension and added traction. These attributes will make a stable tandem with a great ride. Add a full set of gears with a pair of one piece bar stems and this bike will be well equipped for all day grinds.
UIMA Phat Bike (Award for: Best titanium construction):
We have been commissioned by the University of Iowa's Museum of Art to build a bike that will reside in permanent installation at the Museum in Iowa City. We have had the pleasure of hosting a bicycle welding and fabrication work shop at the University's art studios. They have teamed up with the engineering department to create bicycles that are of high craftsmanship with a beautiful aesthetic. The University is a world class institution and we feel fortunate to be selected to have a piece in display.
The bike we have chosen to build is the definition of Black Sheep bikes. The bike will be a phat tired, full racked, single speed, adventure seeking beast. Highly functional as well as extremely versatile. The newest iteration of snow/phat tire hubs, rims, and rubber helps push the boundaries of what the phat platform can do. Utilizing integrated rack systems, break apart frame for compact packing, thru axle dropouts for solid frame and fork/ wheel interfaces, as well as the ability to accept 26" phat , 29er, and 29er+ wheel sizes. The bike will round out with our signature titanium construction, TIG welds, and brite brush finish.
